Updates from e-mails I sent out of Cole in 2008 & a few of Luke from 2009 before I started the blog.
2-21-08 – Cole Update
I hope everyone is doing well. I have a snow day today so I thought I'd send out some pictures of Cole while at home. We were all sick last week with fevers and colds (which caused me to miss almost the entire week of school!) but we are all healthy now.
Cole is doing awesome as he is almost two!! He is talking more and more all the time! He is getting really good at saying people's names and recognizing who someone is. His latest favorite thing to do is "wash." Which means he wants to go to the bathroom, stand on his stool and have you turn on the water in the sink and let him play.
He loves to color, build with his mega blocks and play with his puzzles. Just last week (all two days that he went) he moved up to the two year old room at daycare and is doing great!
3-17-08 – Cole is two!!
Well, Cole turned two yesterday!! We celebrated his second birthday on Saturday with family.
He had his two year check up this morning (no shots!!) and here were his "stats." He weighs 27 pounds, 4.5 ounces (he has gained 3 pounds in 6 months) and he is 35 inches tall (he has grown 1.5 inches in 6 months). He is in the 25-50% for weight and 50-75% for height.
He definitely enjoyed opening his presents much more than last year but I think it will be another year before he is really into it. After the first few presents he just wanted to play with them rather than open more.
We learned on Saturday that Cole is now skilled at drinking out of a cup all by himself. They work on that at daycare and apparently he has done well as picking it up. He has become much more of a talker in the past month. He can now say many two word phrases without trouble. He also can repeat just about any word you ask him to or at least attempt to say it. So that means we really have to watch what comes out of our mouths!
I am on my spring break this week so Cole and I are just hanging out at home. Hopefully the weather will get nicer later in the week since it is dark and rainy today.
6-23-08 – Summer Break Update
Summer break has started! Now that it's summer break we are just hanging out for the most part. Although we have gone to my Mom's house quite a bit to go swimming at her pool. Cole loves Mimi's pool, especially when his Uncle Jake takes him into the big swimming pool. They have a good size baby pool that is 1 foot deep and is perfect for Cole to play in. They also have a big swimming pool which has steps he can play on and there is a ledge inside the water on part of it that he can play on as well. He got thrown into his Uncle Jake a couple of times last week and seemed to really enjoy it!
Some of the pictures are from Father's Day. We went out to Matt's parent's farm and Cole got to go on a canoe ride. He also got to ride on his grandpa's tractor which he just loves! He talks about it all the time!
Cole and I went to Grant's Farm this past Friday with my brother Jake and my niece Maggie. It was fun! To my surprise Cole actually enjoyed feeding the goats. Unfortunately our trip got cut short when it started to rain.
The other pictures are from this evening when Cole was playing outside in his "pool" which consists of his sandbox filled with water. Matt had the hose going and he enjoyed playing with that. We also set up a sprinkler that he got for his birthday and he went through that with Matt.
7-7-08 – Fourth of July Update
Just thought I'd send a few fourth of July pictures of Cole. We went to the O'Fallon parade on the morning of the fourth and luckily with the cool weather it made for a great morning! Cole really enjoyed the parade and came home with an enormous bag of candy!
The rest of the day was spent at our house with Matt's family. Matt and his brother's worked on building our new deck all weekend so we had his family over on the fourth. They got quite a bit done and only have the stairs and hand railing to finish. I have attached a few pictures of their progress and will send a picture of the finished product once it gets done.
We also watched some fireworks on the evening of the fourth which Cole really seemed to enjoy!
10-4-08 – Halloween Costume
I bought his Halloween costume the other week. He is going to be a lion. When I first showed it to him he wanted nothing to do with it but then he warmed up to it and loves to wear it now! I think he'll really enjoy trick-or-treating this year. He loved it last year but this year he'll really know what is going on so I think he'll enjoy it so much more.
We went to the pumpkin patch yesterday with my Mom and sister. It was around his nap time so he wasn't terribly excited to be there but did seem to enjoy it. We got two small pumpkins, one for Cole and one for baby Luke and then one big pumpkin.
Another picture is of Cole holding his shirt up to show his belly. We were taking some pictures of my belly and since according to Cole baby Luke is in his tummy, he needed some pictures as well.
12-27-08
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!! I thought I would send a few pictures of our Christmas. We spend Christmas Eve at my Grandma's house for our traditional White Castle dinner and then spent the night at my Mom's house. We opened presents at my Mom's on Christmas morning and had breakfast. We head out to Matt's parent's farm in the afternoon and celebrated Christmas with the Banges.
1-26-09 – Luke is here!!
For those of you who do not know Luke Preston Bange arrived today (1-26-09)!!
He arrived at 3:49pm. Everything went smoothly and fairly fast so I was pretty happy with the whole experience.
He weighs 7 pounds, 14 ounces and is 21 and 1/4 inches long.
From the top view of his head it appears that he doesn't have that much hair but then you turn to the back of his head and he has quite a bit of hair (but not nearly as much as Cole had). For now his hair seems to be brown in the back and on top it looks lighter and has a bit of blonde/red in it. So I think we'll have to wait and see a while to determine for sure what color his hair is going to be.
For those of you in town we are up for vistors if you'd like to come by (assuming the weather would allow people to venture out), we are at St. Luke's.. We will be in the hospital until sometime Wednesday and then will go home Wednesday afternoon.
1-30-09 – Luke’s First Visit with the Pediatrician
Luke had his first check up with the pediatrician this morning. He is doing great!
He now weights 7 pounds, 15.5 ounces (is in the 50% for weight) and is 21 inches long (90% for height). So he has gained 1 and 1/2 ounces since being born on Monday. He's the same height wise.
Luke has done really well since being home! He pretty much sleeps all day long. Nights have been really good so far, so hopefully he keeps that up! He was up for a while before we went to bed last night which was really good because then he was a sleep when we went to bed around 9pm. He only woke up at 12:30am and 3:15am to eat. He then slept until we got him up around 7:30am to get ready for the doctor.
Cole is also doing well. Hopefully that continues when it is just the three of us at home and he really has to share since it is not one parent to one child.
2-4-09 – Luke is one week old!
It is hard to believe that Luke has already been here for over a week! He was one week old on Monday!
He continues to be a really easy going baby so we are hoping that it will last. He is still sleeping all the time but has slowly started to keep his eyes open a little more during the day. We find if we try to keep him up for a while in the evening he sleeps much better at night. So far so good with night time feedings. He usually gets up about 2 times during the night as long as we feed him before we go to bed around 9-10pm. Defiantly hoping this pattern continues as he gets older. He is also an excellent eater so I am thinking he won't be small for long.
Cole is also doing really well. We have only been home one full day by ourselves so I don't really have an accurate portrayal of how things will go just yet. We took Luke’s newborn pictures today and they turned out great!
