Cole - 2007

I am posting all of the e-mail updates that I sent of Cole when he was little so that I have them nice and organized in one spot. These are all from 2007. It was nice taking a trip down memory lane while I organized them to go on the blog!

1-16-07 – 10 Month Update
Cole is 10 months old today so I thought I’d give an update. Cole is doing great!! He has recently learned how to walk with his "walker" and he enjoys getting around that way. He's got one at our house and one at my mom's house. He loves to cruise around the couches and is really good at it. He hasn't shown any desire to walk on his own yet but we figure its just a matter of time. He can get anywhere he wants to go by crawling on holding on to something like the couches.

We've been trying to give Cole more table food so he can get use to chewing and start making the transition to table food and not jar food. I have a feeling he's going to be on jar food for a while longer because he's not the best table food eater just yet. He's really good at making you think that he's eating the food on his plate because he picks it up, puts it in his hand and then his mouth. The only problem is that he usually spits it out of his mouth and most of his food ends up in his lap. But we figure its good practice and he is getting some of it in his mouth. He's been introduced to cheerios, green beans, carrots, pears, American cheese and cheese tortellini .

Cole currently has three teeth making their debut, all on the top! Well, that's it for now.

1-27-07 – Cole’s first Hair Cut
Cole had his first "real" hair cut today!! Matthew gave it to him and luckily everything ended up going very well. We had been considering taking him somewhere to get his hair cut but we decided to have Matt give it a try with his clippers and see what happens. Cole did pretty well. The hard part is that he doesn't really like to stay still so at times he wasn't real happy with being held still so we could get it done.

2-25-07 – Cole is Walking
Just wanted to share Cole's latest accomplishment with everyone, walking!! He's been taking a few (2-3) steps randomly the past week but only by accident. Yesterday we caught him several times walking a few feet! Today we were able to get it on video so I thought I'd send it out for those of you who can view the video to see. It's pretty cool!! Since yesterday he has started to try to walk a lot more often and is quickly getting much better at it.

3-13-07
Cole got his first pair (actually two) of shoes today thanks to Granny!

3-18-07 – 1 Year Old Update
Well, Cole turned one on Friday so I thought I'd send an update and some of his latest pictures!! I've was on spring break this past week so I got to spend the entire week with Cole getting ready for his big day. He got his first pairs of shoes this past week and does really well walking in them. He started walking the end of February and now walks a majority of the time. We switched to whole milk on Friday and he has done well with the transition thus far. Sippy cups on the other hand are a different story; it looks like he'll be using the bottle a little longer until he gets use to them.

He had his one year doctor appointment on Friday and did pretty well with his shots. He weighs 21 pounds, 3 ounces (25%) and is 30 inches long (50-75%).

There is a picture of Cole in his car seat, we were able to turn his seat around Friday. The rest of the pictures are from Saturday. One is of Cole in the fridge, he likes to climb on anything!! We are constantly having to inform him that he cannot climb on everything! There are two family shots from Saturday and a picture of Cole with his birthday cake! His Grandma Cole made him a special cake just for him. He really wasn't into messing with it but it made for some nice pictures.

3-29-07 – Sippy Cup Progress
Here is a picture of Cole with Matt on Sunday and then a picture of him drinking out of his sippy cup last night!! He drank two cups full of milk from his cup last night, he must have been super thirsty because he usually either won't drink anything from the cup or only a sip. So now we are trying to see if we can run with the fact that we know he can and will drink milk from them and hopefully can switch him completely over to sippy cups if all goes well in the next week.

4-18-07 – 13 Month Update
Cole is now 13 months olds so I thought I'd send out an update.

Cole is doing great! He now not only walks but is slowly starting to walk fast/run on occasion. He's still getting use to playing outside on the grass but is starting to get more comfortable with it. As of a few weeks ago Cole is no longer on bottles and has moved completely over to sippy cups.

The pictures are of Cole eating and his bed head. The bed head one is from him waking up Sunday from his nap. The food ones are from tonight. He had veggies and mac & cheese which was very messy. We striped him down to his diaper so he didn't ruin his clothes and then it was straight to the bath.

The video is also of Cole eating. If you turn the volume up you will hopefully be able to make out Cole's version of the word "more." He definitely knows when to say it and that if he does more food shows up on his plate.

6-12-07 – Trip to NYC
Matthew, Cole and I got back yesterday evening from our trip to New York City to visit my Dad and his wife Sue (for those of you who don't know my Dad moved to New York City this past fall for a job at Lord & Taylor and lives in Manhattan) so I thought I'd send some pictures and tell you a little bit about our trip.

We were in New York City from Thursday to Monday. This was Cole's first airplane ride and he did pretty well considering the fact that he hates to be confined and not able to run free. We got lucky on both flights because we were able to have a row of three seats all to ourselves which made traveling with Cole much more pleasant since he was able to have his own seat.

While in New York City we walked around a lot! We went to Times Square, Bryant Park, Central Park, the Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island and Ground Zero. Cole got wheeled around in his stroller and did a great job considering all the outings that we went on.

Now we are home for a few days and then it is off to St. Lucia on Saturday for vacation with my Dad's entire family. We'll see how Cole does on the upcoming flights since there are more of them and some are longer!

7-5-07 – 4th of July
Cole went to his first 4th of July parade yesterday. He wanted to be held during the whole parade because all of the commotion startled him a little bit. He did a great job at waiving and clapping when people came by. Overall he seemed to enjoy it despite the heat and all the people. I'm sure next year he will be in to it a bit more.

8-6-07 – Cole learns to eat a popsicle
Cole figured out how to eat a popsicle today! He had his first the other day while we were testing out his new daycare and he really had no idea what to do with it. He just carried it around. So tonight I gave him one and after a minute he totally got the idea that it was something to eat!

9-17-07 – 18 Month Update
Cole turned 18 months yesterday so I thought I'd send an update.

Cole has his 18 month check up today and is doing great! He now weighs 24 pounds, 3 ounces (he gained just under a pound in the last 3 months) and is 33 and 1/2 inches tall (he gained just over an inch in the last 3 months).

Cole is adjusting to daycare nicely. He has to get up pretty early during the week (between 5:45am - 6am) but luckily for us he is still sleeping in on the weekends!

Cole is still very active! He loves to climb but has been doing better at not climbing on places he is not suppose to be, like the kitchen table. He is really starting to understand a great deal of what we say to him. He is also repeating or at least attempting to repeat lots of words and sounds. It is really cute! He loves to open and close things like water bottles, containers with lids, etc. He recently has taken to chap stick. If he sees me have it out then he has to have it. Then he spends several minutes putting the cap on it and then taking it off.

One of his favorite toys lately is his lawn mower. He recently rediscovered it from the basement and had to bring it up with him. Sometimes he will mow the upstairs for what seems like a really long time! He also recently got a stuffed tiger from my mom and has quickly become attached to it. He loves sleeping with his tiger!

10-6-07 – Pumpkin Patch
We went to the pumpkin patch today with my sister, my mom, Matt's sister Susan and his sister Mary and her family. Except for the fact that it was a little hot we had lots of fun!

Much different than last year when it was really cold and all Cole could do was sit in the pumpkins. This year he had a great time running around. Although getting good pictures of him was hard because he doesn't like to stand still long enough for you to take a picture. We did get quite a few good ones.

10-28-07 – Cole discovers cupcakes
We were over at Mary's house yesterday for Susan's bridal shower. There was still some food on the table after the shower so people could snack. We had pushed it all onto the middle of the table so Cole couldn't reach it.

Well, at some point Cole wandered out of our site and when Matt found him he had helped himself to several cupcakes!

11-1-07 – Cole goes trick-or-treating for the first time
I hope you had a great Halloween!! We had wonderful weather here so it help make Cole's first trick-or-treating experience a great one!! Cole was a monkey this year! Matt and I took him trick-or-treating with some of Matt's cousin's kids, some of which are close to Cole's age. You could tell he really enjoyed being outside and getting to go to houses to get candy!

Cole loves to eat the candy dots and one house gave him a small pack and he immediately reached into his pumpkin, pulled them out and then handed them to me so he could eat them! After trick-or-treating we went down to Matt's cousin's house (they live right down the street from us) to hand out candy and eat chili. We all had a great time!

12-18-07
Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season!! \He is a very busy little guy! Lately he wants to do whatever you are doing. He loves to "wash" which means he likes to help clean when I am cleaning (my Mom taught him how to help). He actually is kind of helpful. Any time someone is in the kitchen he immediately starts to pull a chair over to the counter to help. He's a big fan of baking and wants to be right in on the action. He is really good at directing you to what he wants. He says "up" so you can pick him up and then he points to where he wants to go. He's quite good at giving action commands.
