Cole's teacher today asked me if Cole told us about their activity yesterday. She said they opened up a pumpkin to see what it looked like inside of it and then took the insides out. I told her he hadn't said anything. Apparently my super sensitive son does not like the smell or texture of pumpkins! Poor guy gaged at the smell of the pumpkin and then had no desire to touch the insides. She said he went over and stood on the other side of the room and was holding back tears so no one noticed it bothered him.
We've actualy never carved a pumpkin at home so this was Cole's first experience with the inside of a pumpkin. I asked him on the way home about it and if he still wanted to carve pumpkins at our house. He said yes, but he doesn't want to take the top off or do anything with the insides. So, we'll see how carving goes this year.
