Luke turned 18 months yesterday! He also had his 18 month check up with Dr. Reichert. He is doing excellent! Got 3 shots, again, but I think now he is good for a few years.
Here are his stats from his appointment:
-27 pounds, 8 ounces (72%)
-34.5 inches (96%)
So he has gained about 1 and 1/2 pounds in the last three months and grew almost an inch. He stayed right in about the same percentile category for both height and weight as he was at 15 months.
Luke can understand just about everything we say to him now. He is saying some words, most of which we are the only ones that understand :) He can say thank you, please, more, and bye just to name a few. When you ask him "where is Luke?" he points to himself. He can also point to me, Matt, Cole, Auntie and Mimi when asked as well as Uncle Jake (who he is a HUGE fan of!) He can find his nose, belly button, hair and eyes when asked as well as point them out on someone else. Those are the only body parts we've worked on thus far so I guess it's time to add some more. I keep trying to get him to say Cole's name but haven't heard it yet. He can say momma and daddy. He is really starting to try to repeat words that you ask him to say, which is very cute.
Luke continues to be super active! He is almost always moving, especially when his big brother is around to follow. He will attempt to do just about everything Cole does which is cute but also not always a good thing.
He still takes two naps a day, one in the morning and one after lunch. Depending on the day they range from about an hour to two hours. He goes to bed really well, a little bit later since the summer has started but will be back to his normal 7pm bedtime soon since I go back to work in less then 2 weeks. I wish I could say that he slept in as well as Cole had but no luck. This summer he's gotten up anywhere from 5:30am - 7am although it is usually not 7am. One morning he did sleep until 8am and I was amazed when I woke up and realized what time it was!
As for food, Luke is a big fan! He will eat just about anything. He's more of an all day grazer then a big meal eater. Anytime we have food he is right there wanting a bite. He has discovered the world of sauces and dips! Anytime he sees Cole or us dip something he wants to do the same. He is a big ketchup fan. Often he just uses his piece of food as a spoon and just eats the ketchup. Kinda gross but funny/cute as well. He loves grapes, blueberries and bananas and will eat all of the carrots and greenbeans you put on his plate. He's also a fan of mandrain oranges and loves hot dogs! We've giving him utensils to eat with for a while now and he does pretty well with them. It takes him longer to eat with a fork and spoon so it gives us a little bit longer to eat our food as well before he's done. As for drinks he is pretty much on water and milk although occassionally gets juice. He can drink out of just about any sippy cup. He loves to drink out of your cup and we've been starting to give him a little bit in a cup to try all on his own. He's also a fan using a straw.
He is usually a very happy little guy and gives the best grins. Right now he has a few teeth coming in, I think two or three. So that puts him at I think 12 teeth completely in and then two or three more on their way. Luke loves to brush his teeth and is already on his second tooth brush. If it was up to him he'd brush them multiple times each morning.
Hard to believe he's already a year and a half and that two is just six months away!
