Ella got to meet her big brothers a few hours after being born! One of the things I was most looking forward to when pregnant with Ella (besides meeting her) was getting to see her with Cole and Luke. Both boys had been very excited as it got closer to her arrival to meet their sister. Luke talked about Ella all of the time and Cole kept asking when she would arrive.
When the boys arrived at the hospital they came bearing tons of gifts! They had made a build-a-bear a few weeks before when hanging out at Mimi's and were super excited to show us what they'd picked out. It is a rainbown bear that plays music with a cute little outfit. They also brough cupcakes (which Luke calls pupcakes), flowers and a balloon. Cole had made a little note for me over the weekend that said "I love you Mom" and he had taken it down from the bulletin board to bring to me to have in the hospital.
The boys spent Monday night at Mimi's house. She picked them up around 8pm to take them for a sleepover. I was a bit surprised Cole didn't ask why he was sleeping at Mimi's on a school night but he didn't seem to think anything of it. We didn't tell either of the boys we were going to the hospital that evening to have Ella so as far as they knew it was just a sleepover like any other night.
My Mom had been at the hosptial around 1pm-2pm and when she left we weren't sure when Ella would make her arrival so we decided to keep with our plan to have her pick up Luke and then wait for Cole to get home from the bus. Had we known things were going to pick up rather quickly and Ella would be born while my Mom was getting the boys we would have let Kerry in on the secret and go get the boys. Although, my Mom did say when she left the hospital that would pretty much guarantee that Ella would arrive soon, and she was right.
Cole had the biggest smile on his face when he first got to hold Ella. It was so cute, as soon as the camera was pointed on him he looked up and smiled - he sure does know his Mom likes pictures :) My Mom said when Cole got off the bus and she told him Ella had arrived he was beyond excited!
Here is a picture of all of my boys and my sweet little girl. The boys changed into their big brother shirts before coming to the hospital. Then, when they got back to my Mom's house that evening they asked if they could wear them to school the next day - I just loved how excited they were to let everyone know about their new baby sister.
Here is Luke getting to hold Ella for the first time, with a little help from Daddy. He was so cute that evening! When Dave came to see Ella he made sure to tell him he needed to wash his hands before holding Ella and then gave him a pillow to use when holding her (everyone should have a pillow since he has one).
