Ella comes home

On Thursday, February 7th we brought our baby girl home from the hospital!  We were so ready to be at our own house with Ella, especially to sleep in our bed instead of the lovely hospital bed (and the pull out sofa for Matt).  We were able to leave the hospital around 11am, after the pediatrician had seen Ella, my doctor had seen me and the nurse  had gone over all of our discharge papers.

 

Ella Elizabeth checked out of the hospital weighing 6 pounds, 12 ounces (so she lost 4 ounces since being born).  Here she is in her going home from the hospital outfit, partly picked because of the matching hat to keep her head warm.  It was so big on her since she is such a tiny little lady.

The car seat also seemed to swallow her up.  Hard to believe as the months go by she'll start to grow out of the car seat.





When we arrived home my Mom had hung up this "Welcome home Ella" sign.



We were both excited to have Ella home but also to be back home with the boys.  Matt picked up Luke from preschool and he was super excited to be at his house and to have baby Ella with us.  He was such a big helper from the moment we got home.  He's really good about making sure to wash his hands (at least when he comes home from school) before he touches her.  He immediately went to help with his job as diaper helper.  He gets the diaper and wipes for her when she needs to be changed.  

Cole arrived home off the bus at his normal time (around 4:42pm).  He immediatly took on his role as the feeder since she needed to eat around 5pm.  I love seeing my boys with their baby sister.

 

We put up the pack-n-play in the family room when we got home.  Matt also went to work putting together the rest of the baby items including a bouncer, papasan seat, portable swing and big swing.  Although since Ella has been home we've only used the pack-n-play to put her in.  We've had it since Cole was born but never really used it that much except for traveling.  I have a feeling we will use it way more this time around as we need a place for her to sleep on the main level and we have a bigger family room.
