All About Luke

I was just thinking of all the things Luke does and says that make him Luke. It's hard to remember down the road all of the little things so I thought I'd write some of them down. Luke
is almost 2 years and 4 months old. This was a favorite age of mine when Cole was little and it is turning out to be the same for Luke.
Luke is such a sweetheart! He's got these big blue eyes with long eye lashes and just melts my heart when he looks at me with them and gives me his little grin. He's such a talker these days. His vocabulary continues to expand and as each day goes by his words are clearer and clearer.
Luke is already such a polite little boy, lets just hope it stays with him as he gets older! When we give him something he usually says, "thank you mommy" or "thank you daddy." If he accidently gets in the way he will often say "sorry." He loves to ask questions and always wants to know where daddy is if Matt is not around. He says Cole quite a bit and it is so cute the way he will ask for his brother. Although sometimes he is yelling Cole because he wants his brother to leave him alone!
Luke has become a little more shy lately but warms up quickly to most people. He is terrified of people dressed up as mascots or the Easter Bunny. He also hates Big Al (the puppet Father Joe brings out at church). Matt usually takes the boys to the 8am mass and Big Al doesn't normally come out so it is not an issue. Last Sunday we went to a first communion at the noon mass and Big Al came out to give a message to the kids at the end of Mass. Luke buried his head into Matt's shoulder clutching on tightly so Matt would not let go of him.
Luke is already such an athelete! He's pretty good at hitting a ball off of the t-ball stand or kicking a soccer ball. I can't wait to get him in the pool and see how he responds to the water this summer. He has looked longingly at it the few times he has gone with me to Cole's swim lessons.
Luke is such a Daddy's boy. Matt puts him to bed at night, spends the morning with him before work and is up early with him on the weekends so it is no surprise he is all about Daddy. He loves to eat waffles in the morning for breakfast and sometimes toast or cereal. He is a big fan of hot dogs although he hasn't had many lately. His favorite snack is yogurt, but not just any yogurt, he MUST have Danimals yogurt in the orange cups. Once I brought home a different kind (because the store didn't have his) and he would not eat it. He also has to pick it out of the fridge and then open it all by himself. He's not happy if you attempt to open it for him. Many times he eats three of the little cups in one sitting. We tend to buy 2 or 3 packages at a time since he eats so much of it. I would have to say strawberries are his favorite fruit these days. He pronounces them as "strawbbaby."
Luke is doing great at daycare and only has about two and a half weeks until summer vacation. He adjusted so well when he started at his new place back in January. He takes a 2-3 hour nap every day. Luke is not as early as a riser as he use to be. I accredit the change to our trip to San Diego when the clocks were changing. Ever since then he has not gotten up as early as he use to. He still doesn't sleep in by my standards but rarely gets up before 6am anymore. Matt now often has to wake him up to get dressed so we can get to work.
Luke LOVES to play outside! He is so happy when he is running around in the backyard. He had the best time at Easter on the farm because he got to spend almost all of the daylight outside. Luke and Cole are your typical brothers, playing great one minute and then screaming at each other the next. I do love to see my boys interact, when they are laughing and playing together, it's just priceless. Perhaps his favorite person, besides his Dad, is his Uncle Jake. The minute we walk into my Mom's house he asks for Jake. He is disappointed if Jake is not there and lights up if he is.
If I had to describe Luke right now I would say he is happy, talkative, sweet and adorable. He knows most of his colors and can get them right on a fairly regular basis. He can kind of sing a long when you do the ABCs and he is able to count to ten as long as you count with him. He loves to run around saying what I think is "Spiderman." It also sounds like he is saying "Ironman" or "I'm the Man." I'm pretty sure he's not saying "I'm the man." He hates to keep his clothes on if he spills any water or other drink on it. He will immediatly want his shirt or pants changed if this happens. He comes and tells us immediatley after he poops. He says his has "yucky" in his pants. We attempted to potty train about a month or two ago when he was super excited about the potty but have since stopped as his excitement ended. We're hoping to attempt sometime this summer (proably not until July) and see how it goes.
So there's all my notes about Luke, for now anyway so that one day down the road I can remember all the little details about my precious boy.
