We left early (4:30am) Friday morning to drive to Athens, Georgia to visit my sister Jessi who is finishing her senior year at UGA. She graduates in May. She is getting ready for her last swim meet of her college career, NCAA meet which is in about a week in a half. She was starting her spring break so it was a good time to visit.
The one other time we visited was when Cole was 5-6 weeks old and Jessi was a freshman. This time Luke was 5-6 weeks old and Jessi is just about done with school. Unfortunately Cole was sick most of the trip with a fever and a nasty cough. He felt pretty good considering he was sick as long as we kept medicine in him.
The drive to Athens took way longer than expected! It took about 14 hours (it only should have taken about 11 hours). We stopped 4 times on the way there for about 1/2 an hour each stop and then were slowed by an accident and rush hour traffic in Atlanta. We finally arrived at my sister's house around 8pm Atlanta time. Luckly the drive back only took 11 hours and we only stopped 2 times. We got back around 4pm on Monday.
Luke did an excellent job for most of the drive. Cole also did pretty well especially considering on the way down he was sick. On the way back Cole was no longer sick and slept most of the drive, probably because he was still recovering from being sick for so long.
My Mom came with us on the trip so that added another pair of helpful hands with both the boys. On Saturday we went to watch Jessi at swim practice and then out to breakfast. Then we went to the UGA bookstore and walked around downtown Athens. On Sunday we went out for brunch and then walked around the Georgia Botanical Gardens. The weather was beautiful, sunny and mid-70s.
I was really glad that we got to take Cole back to visit Jessi even though he was sick. I was also glad that Luke got to visit, it was his first time meeting his Aunt Jessi!!
